Smitten® Apple Galette

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 3-4 Smitten® apples
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • 20 grams unsalted butter, melted
  • Vanilla ice cream, to serve

METHOD

  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius (fan-forced) and line a tray with baking paper
  • In a small bowl mix sugar, cinnamon, and cornflour
  • Cut apple around the core (this will give you flat pieces which are easier to slice) Slice into thin pieces
  • Place thawed puff pastry over tray. Sprinkle the sugar mix. leaving some space around the edges
  • Top with apple slices. Arrange them so they are overlapping because they shrink in the oven. Leave some space around the edges
  • Fold the sides of pastry over the apples. Pinch around the edges to ensure they are secure
  • Brush with melted butter and sprinkle more of the sugar mix. Bake for 30 minutes until puff pastry is golden and apples are tender
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
