Industry body Apple and Pear Australia Ltd (APAL) have created a variety of immersive education programmes for students, hosted at The Orchard at Montague and Montague Farms packing facility. Through a variety of resources in the classroom and at The Orchard at Montague, students will learn:
– How fruit is grown and where it comes from
– The fruit packing and production process
– The importance of nutrition and healthy eating
– Sustainability and reducing food waste
– The power of STEM in fruit growing and production
The following education programmes offer a range of knowledge-building experiences for students. This includes tours of the Montague Farms orchard and innovative packing facility and a plethora of educational resources, such as worksheets and activities, for in the classroom and at the excursion.
Kindergarten to Grade 2, The Early Years, Levels A – D, Foundation – Level 2
Join us to learn about the journey of fruit from Land to Lunchbox. Develop an understanding of seasons, life cycles and food waste. Learn about healthy eating and pick your own fruit to take home. Immerse yourself in the latest innovations and advances in technology with a guided tour of the state-of-the-art packing and distribution facility.
Grade 3 to Grade 6, Level 3 – Level 6
Immerse yourself in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at Montague Farms. Explore innovations in action through a guided tour of the state-of-the-art packing, cool storage and distribution centre. Participate in a hands-on orchard workshop, developing an understanding of plant features and adaptations for survival and the physical conditions that impact the growth and survival of different fruit varieties. Explore the roles of people in design and technologies occupations and learn about food waste and being a conscious consumer. Pick your own delicious fruit to take home and enjoy!
